Protesters Storm Police Headquaters Over Arrest of Suspected Ritualists

The entire people of Umuowaibu community in Okigwe local Government Area of Imo State on Monday, 12th February, 2018 stormed the premises of the State Police Command, Owerri armed with dangerous weapons and carried various placards, inscriptions and chanted war songs.

Leader of the protesters and President General of the community, Mr. Kenneth Alamanjo, said the community are happy that the Police in Okigwe have arrested the suspects whom they accused of involvement in child trafficking, armed robbery and rituals .

Mrs Helen Akazie, who spoke on behalf of the women described the actions of the suspects as wickedness against humanity, stating that they are threats to the entire community. She said they have done so much harm to the community and against residents of Umuowaibu community.

Mrs.Akazie, described them as bandits,kidnappers and ritualists from their community who do want the progress of the community. She revealed that their recent evil activity  was the alleged stealing and killing of a -3-year old baby boy by Mr.Emeka, Uwazuruike and his cohorts on December14th 2017.

“Our prayers,requests an supplications to God at the community market square divinely pushed them to surrender themselves to the police” she declared

The Imo Police Commissioner, Chris Okey Ezike,who spoke to the protesters said the police are on top of the situation in order the truth.

“Do not panic, they shall face the wrath of the law and we are still investigating the matter” he said
