The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Imo State came down hard on Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha for announcing his support for his son in law and Chief of Staff, Uche Nwosu for the Imo governorship contest in 2019.
Governor Okorocha had yesterday at Government House, Owerri told leaders and members of the All Progressive Congress, APC from Owerri municipal that he will support his son in law for the governorship if he decides to contest in 2019.
Reacting to the Governor’s declaration at a press conference held at the party headquarters in Owerri on Tuesday, 13th February 2018, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Damian Opara said Uche Nwosu’s adoption for Imo governorship in 2019 by the Governor is a continuation of Okorocha’s resolve to continue to run the state like his family business.
He recalled that since the inception of the present government in Imo State, contracts and key positions of government in the State have been cornered by the Governor for members of his family, stating that Nwosu’s adoption for governorship in 2019 is a further confirmation that Okorocha wants to turn governance in Imo state into a family affair.
He called on the people of Imo State to reject Okorocha’s choice successor, adding that the PDP in Imo State are not afraid of the APC or his chosen successor, Uche Nwosu in 2019.
The party scribe recalled that the present government had failed to keep its promises such as the local government election in the state, abandoned the 27 general hospitals, several abandoned rural roads, disobeying Court Orders.
He said the Governor’s support for Uche Nwosu for the Imo governorship amounts to flouting the zoning system in the State and taking back power to Orlu zone to the detriment of other geo political zones in the State.
Opara said the PDP is ready and prepared to take back power in the state in 2019.
