Livestock dealers at Relief Market Owerri have appealed to the Imo State Commissioner of Commerce and Industry, Hon Lady Joy Mbawuike to reconsider her relocation notice to them.
They made their appeal through their Chairman, Mr.Joseph Iwuofor. He recalled that since the inception of the market their present position was originally assigned to them, expressing worry on the urgent relocation notice to them.
He said “The government of Imo State since the the inception of the market authorized us to be using the area we are now. It was officially assigned to us to trade but we are suprised that the Commissioner wants to disengage us from the approved area for us in the market”.
He therefore called on the Commissioner to allow them do their business at the approved space instead of asking them to relocate their goods, products and services to an uncompleted and untidy environment.
The Relief Market Livestock Boss appealed to the Commissioner to first of all renovate the site and keep the environment clean and conducive before asking them to relocate
“We are not afraid of moving to area of the Commissioner’s choice but let the place be fixed in good form” he said .
