The Association of Imo State Indigenous Town Unions have commended the Imo State Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof Emeka Ezeonu for the manner INEC have carried the ongoing voters registration exercise.
According to a statement by President of the Association, Emeka Diwe and Secretary,Chief Monday Ikokwu, the group said INEC’s efforts has reflected on the ongoing tour of the local Governments where RECs in the State meet with stakeholders in a Town Hall meeting, sensitize the people on the programmes of INEC in the State thus raising consciousness and awareness to their civic responsibilities.
Part of the statement reads “In compliment to good job of INEC,Imo State, we wish to direct all the elected town union Presidents-General in the various autonomous communities in the state to intensify efforts in mobilizing all the registerable adults in their communities to go to the INEC Registration Centres in their Wards or their Local Government Headquarters as the case may be, to register.
“We also wish to appeal to our people to make good use of the opportunity presented by the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration Exercise to go and register and obtain their PVC” the statement concluded
