The interim committees will take over from the elected officers of the party from the national, zonal  to the state levels which will be dissolved ahead of the party’s national convention in June.

The interim committees are expected to mid wife the conduct of congresses in the States and the party’s national  convention where fresh officers will be elected to run the affairs of the party in the next four years. This newspaper was told that the delay in holding congresses which was scheduled to take off in February with the ward and local government congress was to pave way for the reconciliation of aggrieved party members across the state.

President Muhammdu Buhari had instructed a national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to reconcile party stakeholders and members across the country. The move was said to be aimed at harmonizing the differences of party leaders across the country before congresses and eventual declaration of the President to run for a second term. Buhari had declined to announce his re- election plans last week when APC Governors visited him in Abuja. He pleaded for more time.

It was gathered that congresses will only come after the Tinubu panel concludes its mission.

In Imo State, the appointment of a caretaker committee will create a level playing ground for all the major stakeholders in the State for the coming congress.

Imo APC had been badly divided between the Governor, Rochas Okorocha and other major stakeholders led by Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, Senator Osita Izunaso and others.

Governor Okorocha’s suggestion for a mock primary to elect party flagbearers attracted the rage of other stakeholders who described as alien to the APC Constitution.

It is expected Tinubu’s team will visit Imo State chapter of the APC to heal frayed nerves of aggrieved party members and stakeholders.
