The President General of South East Town Union Development, Chief Emeka Diwe has claimed that a Court ruling has nullified the proscription of Town Unions in Imo State.

Diwe who is the President General  of Imo State Town Union Movement said it is a positive development that the Town Unions are back for good in the State.

Speaking to newsmen recently in Owerri, Chief Diwe said with the ruling, the Imo State Town Union is fully back and set to fulfil its obligations to the people

According to him, the return of the Town union movement in Imo state which is operational in other states of the South East.

Chief Diwe wondered why any right thinking person will want to abolish town union in Imo state considering its enormous benefits that come from the town unions.

He recalled that many major projects carried in Igbo land from the 1950’s was done through town unions . He called on Imolites to cue into it and sustain it for the betterment of Imolites.

“Anything that is presented to look like town union is not town union” he said.

He said soon his association will embark on media sensitization campaign to enlighten the masses on the benfits of Town Unions in the state.
