The Association of Table Water Producers in Imo State have fumed at the high rate of taxation imposed on them by the Imo State government.
At a meeting with officials of National Agency For Food and Drugs Administration, NAFDAC in Owerri, the state Chairman, Mr. Ben Njoku frowned multiple taxation from the Government of Imo State.
He stated that the State government has not done enough to support the growth of the Union. Mr.Njoku however appealed to NAFDAC,other relevant agencies to drawn the State government’s attention on the issue.
The Assistant Director of NAFDAC Imo State, Mr.John Nachi said the purpose of the meeting is to build a strong relationship and synergy between NAFDAC and the Table Water Producers in Imo State in order to encourage good manufacturing practices and ensure the safety, protection and development of the union for the general interest of consumers.
He called for the re-certification of their individual license for their operations and enjoined them to employ graduates of Micro-Biology or its equivalents who possess the right qualities to work in their various production departments.
He promised to cooperate with the union but charged them to renew and update their licences.
