If reports available to this online medium are anything to go by, then the much expected congress of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Imo State and other states of the federation may be delayed to pave way for cohesion in the party.

The APC in Imo State have been polarized along two major camps between Governor Okorocha and other stakeholders such as Senator Ifeanyi Araraume. Congress to elect fresh officers in the party in the State have been a source of contention between rival camps in the party.

Governor Rochas Okorocha had announced mock primaries as a basis to select party flagbearers for various elective positions. This did not go down well with some stakeholders who kicked against the move describing it as illegal and not in tandem with the party constitution.

With this development, President Muhammadu Buhari has directed a national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to reconcile angry members in the party in States APC chieftains are at cross roads.

In a statement signed by Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on media and publicity, the reconciliation moves to be spearheaded by Tinubu is part of ongoing efforts to improve cohesion within the All Progressive Congress.

“The assignment will involve resolving disagreements among party members, party leadership and political office holders in some states of the Federation” the statement stated.
