The Deputy Governor has been in the eye of the storm lately over his governorship ambition. His supporters had engaged in a violent fight with supporters of the Chief of Staff, Uche Nwosu at Nworieubi, headquarters of Mbaitoli Local Government Area.

Madumere and Nwosu who is Governor Rochas Okorocha’s son in law are eying the Imo governorship seat in 2019. Okorocha had announced his support for the governorship ambition of Mr.Nwosu. Shortly after the Nwaorieubi clash, reports also filtered in the social media that there is pressure on the Deputy Governor to halt his governorship ambition.

The Deputy Governor however made some clarifications on his arrival at the VIP lounge of the Port Harcourt International Airport.

He was quoted by online news medium, DAILY POST to have said “My brothers, I was not in the state when the said impeachment plot was raised. I described such as mere rumour if not fallacious”, he said.

“Many of you may not know may position in this government. I am an integral part of rescue mission government.

“I have paid my dues and have kept faith with the policies of the government I am part of. I do not believe it.

“I have not been served. However, when I get to the state, I should be able to know the real state of things but there is no cause for alarm.” he was quoted by an online news platform on arrival at the Imo Airport.

However, there are clear indications that the number two citizen of Imo State may join the governorship race any moment from now.

This is contrary to reports on the social media that he has been penciled down for Owerri senatorial seat by Governor Rochas Okorocha.
