The Imo State Police Command, Owerri  at the weekend held a luncheon at the Imo Trade and Investment Centre (Ahiajoku), New Owerri .

The event was chaired by the Commissioner of Police, CP Chris Okey Ezike. It also attracted many top and state office holders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, business moguls, students and many others. The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of South East, Mr. Valentine Ntomvhukwu and other top government functionaries were also in attendance.

In his remarks, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State promised to support the security of lives and properties of the citizens in synergy with the Nigeria Police Force, Imo State command. He gave reward to some police officers who have distinguished themselves for showing so much passion, zeal and dedication towards strengthening the growth and development of the command.

In his remarks, the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike expressed satisfaction and gratitude to those who have in one way or the other assisted the Police towards the upliftment of the force.

“The aim of the ceremony was to give and pay back to the people for their encouragement, support and love they have shown to the officers and men of Imo Police”. He said

Some Imo citizens were honoured at the event. Among them include the Founder of Godlight Foundation, Sir.Stanley Amuchie, a 2019 Imo Governorship hopeful from Aboh Mbaise in Owerri zone,the Managing Director of ISOPADEC,Hon. Emeka Benjamin,who is also the Imo State Commissioner for Special Duties and Chief Uche Umeh(Uchemek)from ObodoUkwu in Ideato North LGA of Imo State.

The Command also honoureed  Mr.Godfrey Victor Ugbedi,SP,from Federal SARS Owerri as the best Imo Police officer even as he dedicated his award to God and promised to remain committed to service.
