The directive was issued by Imo State Commissioner of Transport, Prince Lasbrey Okoroaforanyanwu who made the call in his office while briefing the Executive members of the Transport Union in the State.

He said branding, fleeting, routing and tracking of all commercial vehicles operating as Town Service would aid in checking the nefarious activities of hoodlums, one chance syndrome and kidnapping and also help in sanitizing the transport system in the State in line with the ideals of the Rescue Mission Administration.

He implored the Executive members of the Transport Union to advise their members to comply, noting that soon a Central Task Force will be deployed to apprehend defaulters while those commercial vehicles that are being branded by the dissolved Taximo registration team at Heroes Square will be impounded by the Task Force and made to re-register at the Official Taximo office situated at ITC premises.

Prince Okafor-Anyanwu commended governor Okorocha for introducing the Taximo scheme, the Imo Rescue Mission Mass Transit buses and the Imo Black Cabs, which he said had provided job opportunities for youths and helped to reduce the sufferings of Imo people in the area of transportation.

He implored Imo citizens to desist from entering any town-service that is not branded Taximo colour for the safety of their lives and property.

The State Chairman of Taxi and Bus Drivers’ Welfare Association, Mr. Linus Duru assured the Commissioner of the compliance of their members.
