Aggrieved Blind Persons Protest In Owerri, Demand Payment Of Entitlements

* Blind Persons Protesting At Govt. House Gate, Owerri*

Hundreds of Blind persons under the aegis of Nigeria Association of the Blind on Monday, 12th March, 2018 barricaded the main entrance of  Government House, Owerri, calling on Governor Rochas Okorocha  to fulfill his promises to them by paying them their benefits and entitlements.

Chairman of the Association, Mr. Christopher Kalu who led the angry Blind demonstrators frowned at the inability of the state government to fulfil their promises to them.

“ We want a school for the Blind, implementation and payment of our subvention, employment. We are asking for  nonpayment of bursary of our citizens” he said.

He called on the Governor to keep to his promises to them or face their revolt especially at the coming general elections as they will not vote for anyone he wants to succeed him.

Provost of the Association, Mr. Chukwuemeka Orji and the Association’s PRO, Mr. Chijioke Anthony Odom said

“We do not want to tow the line of violence,rather we are appealing to the Governor to have a rethink towards enhancing their welfare as bonafide citizens” he said
