Imo State Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Hilary Eke has summoned a meeting of party stakeholders on Sunday, 18th March, 2018 at the Imo Concorde Hotel by 2pm.
This newspaper gathered that the meeting will be attended by key party stakeholders in the party in Imo State. It was unclear as at press time if Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha will be present at the meeting as information available to this online newspaper indicated that the Governor had allegedly requested the State Party Chairman to either hold the meeting at Government House, Owerri or cancel it out rightly.
This information could not be verified as at press time as no government official seem to be in the know of the disposition of the Rescue mission camp towards the meeting. A boycott is however expected from state government quarters. Mainly those aspiring for the governorship ticket of the party such as Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, and other party faithfuls who are not on the same political page with the Governor will attend the meeting.
Reports reaching this newspaper indicated that the request to change the venue of the meeting may not have gone down well with the Party Chairman who felt holding the meeting within the enclave of Government apparatus will affect its attendance as top party stakeholders may keep away.
Efforts by this newspaper to speak to the Imo APC boss, Hilary Eke on this unfolding development was futile as at press time.
In a related development, The Coalition Restoration Group, a pressure group in Imo APC in a statement Saturday called on Governor Rochas Okorocha to “ immediately take urgent steps to save our great party, APC in the State from sliding further the precipice by halting the macabre dance of the clandestine, provocative and unlawful endorsement of his son- in law, Uche Nwosu who also doubles as his Chief of Staff”
