The media office of Senator Samuel Anyanwu has revealed that 2.4 million had endorsed his intention to seek for the office of the Governor of Imo State.
According to a statement by Senator Anyanwu’s his media aide, Mr. Kelechi Eke, he said the news of his interest in the governorship race has received unprecedented endorsements and opened a flurry of political alignments and realignments.
He said the acceptance is like a movement and is slightly higher above the goodwill and acceptance Governor Rochas Okorocha had enjoyed prior to the 2011 governorship election.
The statement stated “Majority of the people who expressed their views through voice calls, social media or oral interviews were of the opinion that the administration of Sen Samdaddy Anyanwu as governor of Imo State in 2019 will positively transform the State”
“77 per cent of those that endorsed his ambition were upbeat that the welfare of workers and pensioners, as well as youth empowerment and economy of the State will be given prime attention under the watch of Sen. Anyanwu, while 23 per cent of those that signed into his endorsement were not really sure of the areas that will form the focal point of his administration but were sure that they want him to be the governor of Imo State come 2019″
“At the new Avu mechanic village and Stamford Bridge Viewing Centre at World Bank area of Owerri, mechanics and football lovers who thronged the viewing center to watch last midweek Champions League matches respectively expressed hope that the entrance of Sen. Samdaddy into the guber race in the State is a good omen both for PDP and Imo State”
“At Umuhu Okabia in Orsu LGA and Ibiasoegbe in Oru West LGA both of Imo State those that were willing to express their feelings admitted that they watch and listen to Sen. Anyanwu on Television and Radio, and will therefore want him to be the governor of the State in 2019 based on his vibrancy in the Senate”.
“The case was not different in Umuokanne in Ohaji Egbema LGA, Awarra, Ejemekuru, Ugbele in Izombe and Orsu Obodo all in Oguta LGA as the people were joyous that Sen. Anyanwu’s administration will uplift their living standards and tackle the infrastructure deficiency in their area. A particular family at Umuokanne appealed to the PDP to give Sen. Samdaddy the Party’s ticket in order to realize their long time dream”
“Settlers at Umuokpu, a rubber plantation settlement in Emeabiam Community of Owerri West LGA could not hold back their joy when the news of his ambition filtered into the settlement. They said Sen. Samdaddy is currently doing a solar powered borehole for them, and informed that since the known history of the settlement, only Sen. Samdaddy Anyanwu and Hon. Ernest Ibejiako have visited them”
“From Umuduru to Umukabia in Ehime Mbano and Abo Eke and Ogwogwuruanya in Ihitte Uboma and Obowo LGAs respectively, the people admitted their love for Sen. Anyanwu especially his simplicity, accessibility and humility and wished him to be governor in 2019.”
“The story is almost the same at Umuchima and Umuobom in Ideato South LGA, Akwakuma, Agbala and Ulakwo in Owerri North LGA and Upe and Umuohiagu in Ngor Okpala LGA”
“Some people that called from Anara in Isiala Mbano and Okpofe in Ezinihitte Mbaise confessed that they left PDP to join APGA, and vowed to return to PDP now that Sen. Samdaddy has joined the guber race. They are of the opinion that he has the goodwill and capacity to unite the party across the State and win the guber election for the party as according to them, they cannot afford to be in opposition for another eight years”
“However, the findings showed that 639 persons want Sen. Samdaddy to return to the Senate as he has shown sufficient capacity to become a principal officer and attract more democracy dividends to the people of South East. Another 502 persons said they are undecided and will need more time to decide on their choice candidate, though they have heard about Sen. Samdaddy Anyanwu through his various skill acquisition programmes, the monthly food items he donates to the poor through St. Vincent De Paul of the Catholic Church and through his Football Club which are winners of the 2018 Imo State FA Cup” the statement concluded.
