A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Imo State, Chief Orikeze Vitalis Ajumbe has said majority of members of the party have abandoned Governor Rochas Okorocha. He said party members in the State are fed up with the Imo State Governor.
Speaking to Daily Sun in an interview, the Chairman Contact and Mobilization Committee of Senator Araraume’s Destiny Organization said the Governor is now on his own
“ Okorocha is now, on his own. He is no longer taking APC leaders into confidence regarding the administration of Imo State. He is no longer following APC agenda but his own agenda” he said
He denounced claims that Okorocha is popular within the APC because he is the Chairman of APC Governors’ Forum.
He said “ That Okorocha is the Chairman of APC Governors Forum doesn’t mean he is popular in Imo State. APC Governors know the reason they picked him as their chairman. Here, we are talking about Imo State, in this State, the governor’s politics is not having positive effects or impacts on the people. Imo State deserves somebody better than Okorocha”
On the governorship ambition of Chief of Staff and Okorocha’s son in law, Uche Nwosu, Ajumbe said “ nobody in Imo State has any grudge against Uche Nwosu or his gubernatorial ambition”
“As a Nigerian, Nwosu has the constitutional right to vie for any elective position of his choice in this country. But what Imo State people are against is Okorocha’s plan to turn government in Imo State into a dynasty, a family affair. We see it as an attempt to want to come back into office for a third term through the installation of Nwosu, his son in law”
Ajumbe added that if Uche Nwosu is elected governor of Imo State, it means that Rochas Okorocha by extension remain the State governor.
“ If not for people like Senator Ifeanyi Araraume who are striving to hold the party together, Okorocha would have scattered APC in Imo State. He did the same thing when he was in APGA before defecting to APC-Okorocha almost destroyed APGA before defecting to APC” Ajumbe stated
