A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Imo State, Chief C.O.C Akaolisa has kicked against the nomination of former Governor Achike Udenwa as member of the party’s Board of Trustees.
In a statement in Owerri, Akaolisa, a former legal Adviser to the PDP in the State said Udenwa’s nomination is not proper because the PDP BOT ought to be made up of men of integrity who have no questionable character.
He questioned the nomination of the former Governor on the grounds that he has not been able to properly account to the Economic and Financial crimes Commission, EFCC over N1 billion naria given to the Imo State chapter the for the 2015 election.
“ A Board of Trustee person must be a person above aboard who has no pending integrity issue with the party.A nominee for Board of Trustee must be a person that the party can entrust its affairs into his hands without fear of the person abusing the said trust” he said
“To nominate a man that has integrity issue as national PDP board of trustee member is to make nonsense of the board of trustee position and posit PDP as a party of criminals and.corrupt men” he said
The President, Citizens Watch Initiative and member, International Bar Association stressed the need for the PDP to begin to be sensitive as a party to its image and stop romancing and promoting expired leaders with integrity questions.
He called on the executives of the PDP to immediately withdraw Udenwa’s nomination, stating his resolve to go to court to challenge the propriety of that recommendation.
” We also want Udenwa to come out clear and explain to Imo people what he did with the money given to him since the party chairman at the time chief Nnamdi Anyaehie has categorically stated the true amount received by the party.
“Such huge sum cannot be made away with by a man still enjoying his comfortable pension as former governor of Imo state and expect us to keep quiet.” he stated
