Imo NUT Elect New Chairman, Round Up Delegates Conference In Owerri

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Imo State chapter have concluded its 15th/6 Quadrennial Delegates Conference in Owerri. The Conference elected a new Chairman. He is Rev. Phillip Nwansi who took over from Engr. Napoleon Aniche.

The Conference which took place at the NUT Imo State Secretariat, Owerri  with the theme “Sustaining Free Qualitative Education In A Democratic Setting” was well attended by delegates.

Speaking to newsmen the Representative of the National Chairman of NUT,Comrade Kelvin Nwankwo expressed satisfaction at the high level education has  improved in Nigeria and Imo State in particular.

He however expressed dismay over what he described as poor education standard under the administration of the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha. He also frowned at the ugly situation where pupils in primary schools  study under an conducive environment

He  called on both the Federal and State governments to take education serious for the benefit of children of the nation  whom he described as the future of the nation.

In his remarks,the immediate past Imo NUT Chairman, Engr.Napoleon Aniche thanked the union members especially the members of executives for giving him all their support. In his acceptance speech,the Chairman of Imo NUT wing, Rev.Comr. Philip Nwansi thanked God for  his victory and promised to take the union to another height.
