Indications became clear yesterday  how the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Imo State made its nominations for appointments into the party’s Board of Trustees.  The party had  in a statement on Sunday said Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu and Achike Udenwa were nominated as members of the BOT whose names will be sent to the party’s National Executive Council.

However, this newspaper was informed that the State caucus of the PDP in Imo State also ratified the appointment Ambassador Kema Chikwe as a statutory member of the PDP on the grounds that she is a founding member of the party being a member of G-34, the nucleus group that formed the PDP.

The source also stated that a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representative, Rt Hon. Emeka Ihedioha was also nominated on the basis that he is also a statutory member (former presiding officer of the House of Reps as provided by the party constitution 2017 as amended)

Udenwa was nominated by the South East zonal caucus of the PDP and at the same time unanimously elected as Imo State nominee for BOT appointment.

However, the nominations seem to have boxed in a tight corner the hopes of Senator representing Orlu Zone, Senator Hope Uzodinma to remain as PDP BOT member.

His name was conspicuously missing from the nominees from Imo PDP thus jeopardizing his chances of being retained in the party’s Board of Trustees. No word has been heard from the senator on this development as his official response is being awaited.
