Fireworks from the Archbishop of Owerri Catholic Diocese, AJV Obinna may not be over as the clergyman on Sunday during the celebration of Palm Sunday took a swipe at the Rochas Okorocha administration.

In his sermon (homily) at Assumpta Cathedral, the Archbishop said the Okorocha administration has no good intentions for the people of Imo State.

The Archbishop and officials of Okorocha’s government have been enmeshed in fresh altercations after he was assaulted by members of Ugwumba Movement, a political structure oiling the governorship ambition of Uche Nwosu at a funeral service held at a Catholic Church in Ngwoma community in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State.

He said Imo people will not accept familiocracy which has made them poor and their means of livelihood destroyed,  advising the congregation never to adopt “ asmall boy” who does not have the experience and a mind of his own”

The Clergyman denied allegations that he has changed his position on the governorship ambition of Okorocha’s son- in law Uche Nwosu, berating the Chief of Staff for going to the Press to say that he endorsed him.

The Archbishop  outburst is the latest in series of verbal attacks on the Imo State government after the funeral service at Ngwoma.

Last Friday, Uche Nwosu was in Assumpta cathedral for the cathedraticum where he donated N3 million naria to the church. A press release from the office of the Chief of Staff claimed that his aspiration was blessed by the Archbishop.
Early last month, Governor Okorocha had said the Archbishop is a hater of the All Progressive Congress, APC, but assured that the party will rule Imo State for 24 years.
