The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), Imo State chapter has promised a cordial working relationship between the institute, Imo State Command of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and Nigeria Navy Finance and Logistics College, Owerrinta.
The state chairman of the institute, Mr. Joachim Egerue made this known when he led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Sector Commander of FRSC, Mr. Joseph Aremu in Owerri.
Mr. Joachim said that the visit is in continuation of the already existing relationship between the command and the institute.
He solicited for friendship and cross pollination of ideas among members of thee two organizations.
Also speaking, a fellow of the institute and Special Adviser to the Governor on Transport, Chief Ignatius Owums, recalled that the institute which started in Nigeria with presence in most countries of the world, is still in need of expansion and membership in Nigeria.
While requesting that the commandant should encourage his officers and men to register with the institute, he informed that there are various training programmes for all cadre of members.
According to him, the institute trains professionals in such areas as logistics, marine, road transport and research and operation.
Responding, the Sector Commander, Mr. Joseph Aremu expressed excitement at the visit and promised to organize a forum where the institute will have the opportunity of talking to all the FRSC staff in the state on the need to join the institute.
He described the institute as partners since both organizations are in the business of safety.
He however advocated the use of speed limit device as a means of reducing road crashes caused by over-speeding.
Similarly, the team also visited the management and staff of Nigeria Navy College of Finance and Logistics Owerrinta, with the same message of partnership and harmonious working relationship.
The state chairman of CILT, Mr. Joachim Egerue and Chief Owums who also spoke at the occasion explained the importance of partnership between the two organizations.
The Commandant of the college, Captain Aminu, who was on ground with his management team to received members of the CILT, assured the institute of support and cordial relationship.
He explained that the college has got a new facelift since he assumes office as the commandant of the college.
He further stated that the college is open to civilians, adding that about 20 civilians had been delivered of their babies in the hospital.
He expressed optimism that the college will soon be upgraded to a university which will also be open to the public.
The immediate past Imo State Chairman of the institute, Prof Calistus Ibe of Federal University Owerri who was unavoidably absent send his good will massage and pledged the institute’s determination to offer the best at all times.
The event was graced by the deputy commandant of the college Cdr A.A Ibrahim among other dignitaries
