Some officials of his Government had converged under auspices of Imo Restoration Group in the APC led by a former Commissioner, TOE Ekechi calling for a halt on the wave of endorsements for Uche Nwosu.

Among those who have aligned with group is Ichie Best Mbanaso, an Adviser to the Governor on Market Development. He was physically present at Ekechi’s home at Imerienwe where the briefing took place.

Mbanaso had been Okorocha’ s trusted ally for many years holding several key positions in the Rescue Mission Government. He was reported to have opposed the open support Okorocha gave to Uche Nwosu for 2019 Imo governorship. He is suspected to be backing Eze Madumere, the Deputy Governor who had broken ranks with the Governor for backing the ambition of his son- in law for the plum job.

After the Imerienewe declaration came a release from the office of the Secretary to the Government of Imo State,  George Eche. The statemnt stated “ Ichie Mbanasao is to handover all documents and funds, including market Revenue to the Commissioner in charge of market Development with immediate effect.

The statement advised the public especially traders, businessmen, market men and women, public servants and officers to take note and to avoid dealing with him as an agent of government henceforth.
