A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Barr Chukwuma Ekomaru (SAN) has joined the Imo governorship race.
Ekomaru was a former Commissioner in Imo State.
He announced his ambition at his Umunoha/Azara ward in Ikeduru Local Government Area on Sunday. The legal luminary is a known political loyalist of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.
Chief Iwuanyanwu had recently announced his support for the governorship ambition of his political godson, Senator Samuel Anyanwu. Ekomaru’S declaration swell the number of governorship aspirants in Imo State. From available records, he is the 35th governorship aspirant found in four political parties and the 5th in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Imo Statae.
He joins former Governor Ikedi Ohakim, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, Hon. Tony Nwulu and Senator Athan Achonu in the PDP for the contest. Imo PDP Vice Chairman ( Owerri zone), Sir Bon Unachukwu had last week said more governorship aspirants are underway in Imo PDP.
