“We acknowledge that Rt. Hon. Ihedioha, well known to freely associate and as well honour invitations of friends and associates, at the instance of the family of the groom, graced the traditional wedding of Chief Oye’s daughter, which obviously was not a political event. It is however curious that Chief Victor Oye, would attempt to make political gains out of such innocent visit” the statement stated.

The statement stated“While we appreciate the fact that the APGA National Chairman acknowledges the former Deputy Speaker’s trajectory, popularity, strength and outstanding credentials as the man, best suited to wrestle power from the failed Governor Rochas Okorocha led APC government in Imo State, it is noteworthy, that Chief Oye’s call is not new, as there is hardly any serious political party in Nigeria that has not sought the face and membership of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha. But he has without hesitation, rejected such requests, restating that PDP remains the only true national party that can liberate Nigeria from maladministration inflicted by the APC government at all levels. We however make hay to reiterate, that he is not desperate for power and wish to state with humility, that Rt. Hon. Ihedioha will, by the grace of God, realize his political dreams through PDP”

He said Ihedioha is not only a founding member of the PDP but indeed a consequential leader who has consistently labored to ensuring its stability and progress at all levels, stating that his preoccupation “ at this critical time is to lead the PDP to victory in Imo State and Nigeria as a whole. However, we are disposed to aligning with well meaning political parties, associations and democrats in our attempt to reclaim our mandate for the greater good of Nigerians”

Part of the statement reads “On his remarks that PDP has lost its political fortunes, especially in the South East, we wish urge Chief Oye to stop hallucinating and accept the reality that PDP remains the dominant and indeed most formidable party in the entire region. We believe that the defeat awaiting APGA in the South East is already starring Chief Oye in the face as the rejuvenated PDP is poised to taking over the region and Nigeria as a whole.

Unfortunately, Chief Oye’s APGA, from their actions and body language, is not on the same page with our party, the PDP and Nigerians, as they appear to be hobnobbing with the unpopular President Mohammadu Buhari led APC government. One therefore had expected Chief Oye, rather than engage in cheap propaganda, to be worried about the collaborator, they have become with the outgoing APC government and begin to address same quickly”

The Imo PDP governorship aspirant enjoined his fans and teeming supporters and allies to disregard Chief Oye’s call “as it is of no consequence and be assured of his clear focus, as it is known to everybody that his membership and loyalty to PDP has never wavered and will never be in contention”
