Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Imo State, Mr. Charles Babatunde Ezekwem has said there is no rift between two governorship aspirants in the party, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Senator representing Owerri zone in the Senate.

The Chairman also took a swipe at an Owerri based newspaper for publishing such falsehood wherein it insinuated the party in Imo State has been torn to shreds because of the governorship ambition of the duo.

“Firstly, I am not aware of any rift between Senator Samuel Anyanwu and His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha. The two gentlemen are great party members who have adopted the highest level of decorum and decency in their utterances and actions ahead of our party’s primaries” the Chairman stated in a statement sent to this online newspaper on Sunday.

Reacting to the newspaper he said “My attention has been drawn to a malicious and misleading publication in the Weekend Community Watchdog Newspaper of April 27, 2018, Vol.4 No.32, on page 5. The amateurish story was captioned “Samdaddy, Ihedioha face off goes messier….. why Ezekwem roots for Senator”.

The Chairman said nothing in the story under review has any relationship with the truth, stating that the story is a concoction of the Publisher’s warped imagination  induced by his inordinate quest to exploit him or in the alternative, find solace in cheap blackmail

The Imo PDP boss narrated his encounter with the Newspaper Publisher via telephone call which precipitated the Newspaper publication.

He described the publication as an unwarranted attack on his person, calling on the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ to be mindful of those in its fold

“I hereby call on the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) to be mindful of those it allows into its fold because “evil communication corrupts good manners”. Journalists in Imo State are known for their maturity, sense of responsibility and decorous conduct in the discharge of their ethical responsibilities to the society” Ezekwem stated.
