Save for his swift whisking away to safety, Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige would have been mobbed when a meeting of the All Progressive Congress, APC turned violent.
The meeting was aimed at harmonizing the results of the party’s ward congress held on Saturday.
Reports said that as the meeting progressed, the APC Governorship candidate in the November 18, 2017 governorship election, Tony Nwoye openly accused the Minister of plotting to hijack the party in the State.
Nwoye was quoted to have said that he had refrained in the past from speaking about Ngige’s impunity over the affairs of the party to avoid being accused of being bitter because he ran and lost the election on the platform of the party.
Security details of the Minister were said to have fired warning shots in the air to scare away the mob that had begun to charge at him.
They eventually took him out and drove to safety while the mob charged at supposed supporters of Ngige beating some of them to a pulp.
