According to reports, Okorocha kicked against the manner some members of the party in some states conducted themselves during the exercise, saying the party will put a stop to it in the future.

He said: “We expect internal democracy and internal democracy is the way to go. Those kind of funny politics that were played must stop, where people want to carry ballot boxes, steal results looks so primitive.

“I intimated Mr President and we will make sure that such things must stop.’’ he said

On the president’s response, the governor said; “He spoke like the president and he will take the necessary steps to correct this in our party, APC, not just in Imo but across the whole nation, to make sure that there is respect for internal democracy”

Before he left for Daura, Katsina State to see the President on Sunday, Okorocha through a press statement by his Chief Press Secretary had called for the arraignment of the Committee members that were assigned to conduct the ward Congress in Imo State.

This is coming on the heels of the declaration of victory by the Imo APC Stakeholders that the congress was peaceful and successful in the State. At a press conference in Owerri, Okorocha’s Deputy, Prince Eze Madumere said the congress was a successful one.

Madumere said “We had a very free, fair and transparent and peaceful congress. We have elected those that will lead us in the next four months in all the 305 wards of the State. The people have taken back their party and APC is now stronger and united in Imo State”

Imo State Chairman of the ruling party, Hilary Eke also said the congress was peaceful and a huge success.

Meanwhile, the party had on Sunday called on its members that may have been aggrieved following the conduct of its Saturday ward congress across the country to seek redress in its appeal panel.

Bolaji Abudulahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, made the call in a statement in Abuja.

Reports reaching this newspaper say that the APC Appeal Panel in Imo State that would handle complains and grievances of party members that arose during the Congress may commence sitting in Owerri today.
