A mutual agreement binding members of the “Allied Forces” in the Imo State chapter of the All Progressive Congress, APC have emerged.
Aside sharing the local Governments to various stakeholders in the coalition, the governorship ticket of the party has been identified as a major issue that may tear members of the “Allied forces” apart when the chips are down.
This newspaper however gathered that contrary to insinuations that the Coalition may dismember because of elective offices, it was learnt that even before the APC ward and local government congresses in the State, political positions were shared to stakeholders in the coalition to avoid any form of bickering after the congress.
Sources said despite the zoning of the party chairmanship to Owerri zone which was clinched by Dr Hilary Eke, other positions such as the governorship ticket was thrown open to all the governorship aspirants from the three geo political zones in the State. Also, it was resolved that all aspirants will be on their own, a case of to thy tenth Oh Isreal for the guber aspirants after the congress.
The ‘Kashim formula”, a formula was also introduced as leaders from the 27 local governments who are members of the coalition were allocated their local governments. The Kashim formula was first introduced in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in 2006 as leeway the political logjam in the party.
Based on the foregoing, all governorship aspirants who is a member of the Coalition can vie for the governorship ticket of the APC in the State and not to field a consensus candidate as erroneously portrayed in the media.
