The All Progressive Congress, Imo State has cautioned local government chairmanship and councillorship aspirants just as it suspended some party chieftains for acts bordering on impersonation.

In a statement by Engr. Nwabueze Oguchienti, Publicity Secretary of the party in Imo State, he said the State Working Committee has noticed with concern the illegality perpetrated by some elements in the party after successful conduct of congresses.

It said “These elements who are now impersonating the office of the state chairman and other officers of our great party have been defrauding our party members particularly aspirants to the proposed Local Government Area elections”

It advised all aspirants to the proposed local government elections to deal only with Dr.Hilary Eke led executive which is the duly elected and recognized exco of the party in Imo State.

“Any dealings with any other person(s) is a nullity and of no effect.It is our position that such persons do so at their own risks. The State Congresses have come and gone and officers at the various levels have emerged and it should be noted that only the political parties can sponsor candidates to an election”

It suspended some officers of the party such as Mr.Chris Oguoma,Mr. G.N Asika and Mr.Obioma Ireagwu alleging impersonation, stating that full investigation will soon commence to look into their activities.
