Governorship aspirants in Imo State should be subjected to written examination.

This suggestion came from the Chairman of All Grand Alliance Party (AGAP) Imo State, Chief Ugo C. Ugo.

Speaking to newsmen in Owerri , Chief Ugo stated that most governorship aspirants in all the political parties in Imo State are within the age bracket of  45 years and the proper thing to do is to subject them to a written examination to enable us select the best amongst them.

He said governorship aspirants in the State should be compelled to write an essay on why they want to govern Imo State.

Ugo said “They should be subjected to answer objective test questions to be drawn from English, Mathematics, Economics, Government, Agric Science, Financial Management, Rule of Law, Quantitative Analysis, Sociology, Culture and Tradition to mention a few.

“The need to subject the governorship aspirants to the above examination is very apt and sacrosanct now to avoid the situation Imolites found themselves since 2011. Apart from writing the examination, the aspirants should show evidence of primary, secondary and higher institutions they attended with dates and they are expected to mention names of three course mates each from primary, secondary and higher institution they attended.

“They should present their certificates confirming that they are mentally sound before writing the examination to be conducted by some professors of Imo State origin. Arch Bishop A. J. V. Obinna of Owerri Catholic Archdiocese, Arch Bishop Okorocha of Anglican Church Owerri, the CAN President; Imo State Chapter and Dr. Paschal Dozie, Prof Iwu, Prof Bernard Ikegwuoha are to invigilate the examination.

“The venue of the Examination will be at the Auditorium of Imo State University or Federal University of Technology, Owerri” he stated
