Some lawmakers from Imo State have met with the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Chief John Oyegun.
The lawmakers are part of a delegation from Imo State who went to the party’s National Chairman to protest the ward congresses held in Imo State.
Pictures seen online showed Hon. Chike Okafor and Hon Ralphael Nnanna Igbokwe being received by Oyegun.Details of the meeting were sketchy but sources said the lawmakers called for the cancellation of the ward congresses in the State held on 5th May, 2018. They were reported to have also asked for harmonization. The NWC were said to have stated that it is not in their powers to call for harmonizaton as it is the responsibility of the State secretariat and party leaders to do so and within the time frame.
Among those on the delegation were the 24 members of the House of Assembly of APC extraction led by the Speaker, Rt Hon Acho Ihim, three members of the House of Representatives from Imo State. Political analysts contend that the battle for the soul of Imo APC may get messier as both rival camps, the Governor’s group and the “Allied Forces” stick to their positions.
Before the delegation visited the national party secretariat , there was a minor protest by some youths at the APC national Secretariat where they called for an end to misrule in Imo State.
