Chairmanship and Councillorship aspirants in the All Progressive Congress APC in Imo State for the proposed local government election scheduled hold in July are lamenting over the exhibortant fees charged for the purchase of nominaton forms.
Some of the aspirants who stormed the party office at Okigwe road,Owerri wondered why the prices of forms have to skyrocket so suddenly
It was gathered that the Councillorship forms were earlier sold for N20,000 but suddenly raised to 100,000.Chairmanship forms were to be sold for N100,000 but now sold for N250,000.
No reason was given for the sudden increase. Efforts to speak to the newly installed Chairman of the party, Chris Oguoma was futile as several phone calls put across to him were unanswered.
This newspaper observed that most of the aspirants complained on the sudden increase wondering why it has to be so.
” This price of the forms are outrageous. It is exhibortant. As the governing party the price of forms for the nomination process should be less. I wonder why the price has to so high” said a Chairmanship aspirant who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Despite the controversy surrounding the conduct of the local government Election in Imo State, most of the aspirants in the APC expressed readiness to take part in the election.
