Orlu Zone Congress of Journalists (OZCOJ) have visited the Chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Imo State Council, Sir Innocent Igwe.

The Council said the visit was based on the need to take the Organization to an enviable height in the areas of welfare packages for members.

The group led by the Coordinator, Amb. Ikenna Onuoha used the medium to remind Sir Igwe on the need to carry Orlu Zone Journalists along in the activities of their body union.

Speaking on behalf of his members, the Coordinator, Amb. Onuoha disclosed that OZCOJ was formed as a platform to carter for the welfare of members, pointing out that gone were the days when media professionals were relegated to the wall as a result of non compliance of the union to give them a new lease of life.

He said that OZCOJ was not formed as a parallel organization to whittle NUJ down but pure established to raise the living standards of their members.

Amb Onuoha further appealed to the Chairman of NUJ to see reasons to support them, while describing the Organization as partner in progress in ensuring that the message of NUJ in Imo State was taking diwn to the grassroots.

Responding, Chiarman of NUJ Imo State, Sir Igwe commended the group for coming together to chart a formidable force for their members, assuring that all efforts would be provided for OZCOJ to succeed since her programmes were in line with the vision and mission of NUJ in the country.

He therefore advised members of OZCOJ not to see the group as a platform for division where the activities of their parent body would be jettisoned for her own personal aggrandizement.

Those in attendance were the Vice Chairman of NUJ, Chief Chris Akaraonye, Secretary, Emma Odibo, NAWOJ Chairperson, Vivian Ottih Esq, Juliet Dim, Ifeanyi Nwanguma, Jude Owuamalam, Chuks Nwokeji, Johnkennedy, amog others.
