A former Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) Sir Jude Njoku has announced his desire to become Imo State Governor in 2019.


He said Imo State is in dire need of a seasoned technocrat to bail the State out of the doldrums.

Njoku spoke in Owerri when speaking to newsmen at Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ press centre, Owerri.He said he is the most educated, mo st knowledgeable, most competent and most mature among the litany of governorship aspirants in Imo State.

The two time Commissioner in Imo State who is vying for the guber race on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP said he has acquired cognate experience in the academia and public sector that places him in vintage position to give good governance to the people of the State.

Describing himself as a consummate administrator who possesses the relevant experience and capacity to restore the State, Njoku said Imo at the moment does not need  a regular politician that will manage the affairs of the State after the tenure of the present administration.

He said “Our state is in dire and urgent need of change in leadership in 2019. I want to lead the entire efforts geared towards bringing about desired change, restore good governance in the state that will bring unparalleled, peace, prosperity and progress to our people. I have a burning desire to render selfless, dedicated and patriotic service to the people of Imo state”

He aligned himself with the postulations of the Archbishop of Owerri Catholic Diocese, AJV Obinna who said Imo State needs an experienced governor in 2019  considering the sorry state of Imo at the moment.
He promised to restructure the finances of the State to cut down cost of governance and place priority on pensioners, workers salaries and allowances

“There is need to restore all that made Imo State unique. I will restore sanity that will lead to  good governance” he said

Njoku revealed if elected Governor his administration will deepen democratic governance and pay special attention to myriad problems bedeviling the State.
