Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha was in Daura, Katsina State on Sunday to confer with President Muhammadu Buhari. Details of the meeting were unknown as at press time.

The visit is coming barely a day the Ward Congress was held in Imo State amidst intrigue and drama.

The Governor had earlier in a statement through his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemedo called on the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike to arrest Chief Ini Okorie who allegedly escaped at the residence of Senator Osita Izunaso. He also called on the police to charge members of the Congress Electoral Committee to court without further delay.

Before the Governor’s call, It was a uniamous verdict by members of Imo APC stakeholders who insisted that they have taken back the party from the Governor.

At a press conference in Owerri on Sunday, leaders of the group such as Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, Senator Benjamin Uwajumuogu, Senator Osita Izunaso, Hon Emeka Nwajiuba, Hon Gibson Njemanze (Oyiga) and many others stated the party now belongs to them.

Imo State Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere said “ We had a very free, fair and transparent and peaceful congress. We have elected those that will lead us in the next four months in all the 305 wards of the State. The people have taken back their party and APC is now stronger and united in Imo State”

The State Chairman of the APC, Hilary Eke concurred saying that the Congress was a peaceful and successful one, saying those who are aggrieved are those who lost out in the exercise

In a dramatic twist, the State Secretary of the party,Hon Iroegbu Obioma in a statement said the congress did not hold.

“ Till now, the 7 man committee sent by the National Working Committee sent by the National Working Committee (NEC) of the party for the congress did not provide,nor distributed the result sheets for the Congresses. Rather they said that one of them did abscond with the result sheets” he said
