As part of his commitment to boost food production in Imo State and beyond, a member of the House of Representatives, Hon Tony Nwulu has donated several bags of fertilizer to women who engage in farming in Imo State.

Nwulu represents Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives but he is a native of Eziudo in Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.

He is also a governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. The Governorship hopeful said his resolve to donate the fertilizers to the women is part of his commitment to encourage and boost farming in the State, stating that Agriculture has a crucial role to play to boosting the economy of the State.

He said with the dwindling oil revenue in the country which has a long term effect on revenue acruable to the State from the Federation Account, there is need for everyone to focus on Agriculture in order to boost food production in the State.

Nwulu noted that Imo State stand to benefit economically if emphasis will be placed on agriculture and adequate attention given to the sector by the Government and well meaning individual. He promised to revamp the Agriculture sector in Imo State if elected Governor in 2019, pointing out that his Development Plan for the State has a roadmap to revive the sector and guarantee food security for the people of Imo State.

In her remarks, the leader of the beneficiaries of the fertilizers, Mrs Iroeme thanked Hon Nwulu for his kind gesture, wishing him God’s guidance and blessings in his ambition to become Governor of Imo State.

She said the fertilizers will be put into effective use, adding that the items will boost their farm work and increase their yield.
