A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu has joined the clamour for the restructuring of the country before the 2019 general elections.
He said the need for such restructuring is to enable the country move forward and should be a top priority for the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC.
The elder statesman made his position known at Awka at the maiden public lecture of the faculty of Education, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra State, where he spoke on the theme “ Restructuring Education in Nigeria to meet the Economic and Social Challenges”
The business mogul said the restructuring of the country was more important at this point than the 2019 general elections.
Iwuanyanwu also spoke on the rot in the education sector in the country, lamenting that the education sector in the country had given him cause for concern.
According to him,” Our educational system as conceived in the past was white collar job oriented, our current educational curriculum does not balance theoretical training with requisite skill acquisition to make graduates self reliant.
“It is clear that there is immediate and urgent need to restructure our education system, if it must fulfill the basic goal and objectives of a good educational system in modern world.”
