Youths of Okigwe zone have met in Owerri with a renewed desire to bring back the lost glory of the area just as they commended the Federal Government for signing into law, the Not Too Young To Run.

Okigwe zone is one of the senatorial zones in Imo State.

President Okigwe Youth Assembly, Pastor Engr. Comrade Micheal Chika Anokwuru said the purpose of the summit is aimed at activating the mindset of the youths to enable them engage actively in 2019 politics.

He said OYA is poised to moderate other Youth Bodies in the State particularly in Okigwe zone

“We want the youths to be rejuvenated and be active into effective political movement. We shall do our best to put the youths in the right direction. He called on the youths to wake up to work via empowering them.

He noted some of the reasons why the zone should come, pointing out that  development, employment, education, agriculture and industrialization”.

Dignitaries from the zone who attended the summit include Prof.U.D.Anyanwuof IMSU,Hon.Dr.Mrs. Angela Uwakwem,the Imo State Commissioner for Health and Rev. Barr.Ikenna Emmanuel, a governorship aspirant from the Young Democratic Party,YDP.

Others who witnessed the event include Barr.Wisdom Uche Durueke and the OYA BoT Chairman, Dr.Harold Onumo,who is also the National Pioneer President of the association, amongst other youth leaders from Okigwe zone.

The Imo State  Commissioner for Health,Dr.Mrs Angela  Uwakwem commended the organizers of the summit and appealed to them to embrace the movement of rejuvenation which according to her is apt for the zone.

The Not Too Young was initiated by Hon Tony Nwulu, a member of the House of Representatives and a governorship aspirant in Imo State.

The bill was signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari recently.
