Reports available to this newspaper indicate that aspirants who are either vying for Chairmanship or councillorship positions have intensified their campaigns ahead of the primaries which is expected to be by option A4.

The aspirants who procured their nomination forms through the Okorocha backed Imo APC led by Chris Oguoma have been moving around soliciting for support during the primaries. The legitimacy of their aspiration has been a source of concern following the recognition accorded the Hilary Eke led State Executives of the party in the State by the national leadership of the party.

Eke, a product of the “Allied Forces” that wrestled the party structure from the ward to the Local Government levels had continoulsy advised such aspirants to desist from procuring nomination from the Oguoma led Exco.

The local government election is expected to hold on July 14, 2018 as announced by the Imo State Government.  The Imo State House of Assembly had passed a bill from the executive seeking to amend the law that empower ISIEC to conduct local elections in over 600 communities rather than 305 electoral wards.
