The national convention of the All Progressive Congress, APC may have re- opened fresh hostilities among the two contending forces in Imo State chapter of the All Progressive Congress.

This came on the heels of the approval by the National Working Committee of the party that only statutory delegates will take part in the convention

The Okorocha faction and the Coalition also called the “Allied Forces” are up against each other once again over delegates from the party in the State that will attend the convention.

While the Okorocha backed faction led by Acting Chairman of the party, Chris Oguoma says main delegates will not take part on the grounds that there were no ward, LGA and State congress, the Coalition had expressed hope that party officials at these levels exist as they were duly elected at congresses.

The Okorocha faction strongly objected to the claims of the Coalition as it is challenging the validity of the Congress at the Courts.

As stands, the non contentious issue is the statutory delegates which comprise former and serving Governors, serving and former Deputy Governors, former and serving senators, serving and former members of the House of Representatives, former and serving House of Assembly members and others.

Judging from this criteria, it appears the Okorocha faction otherwise known as Rescue Mission have the higher number of statutory delegates than the Coalition and this places it in a vintage position at the convention.

Political analysts who took a critical look at the development said the Rescue Mission camp have 20 statutory delegates compared to 15 of the Coalition.

Imo APC has been in turbulence since congresses took place which favoured the Coalition that swept off the Okorocha faction at all levels.

The latter has consistently insisted that there were no congress in Imo APC and efforts to get the National Working Committee, NWC to overturn the outcome of the exercise has been a monumental task for the Okorocha faction.

This has led to bitter feud between the National Chairman of the party, John Odigie Oyegun and Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha. Both had exchanged hot verbal words in the media.

Okorocha is alleged to be banking on Former Edo State Governor and favourite for the National Chairmanship job of the party, Adams Oshiomole to possibly “reorder” events in Imo APC when the latter emerges as National Chairman while it awaits the verdict of the Courts on the Congresses.
