Some members of the Imo State House of Assembly mainly those of the All Progressive Congress, APC who were ferried to Abuja to attend the South East APC stakeholders meeting have returned to Owerri, Imo State capital.

The lawmakers were not allowed to gain access to the meeting. Only the Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Acho Ihim was eventually allowed to gain entrance into the meeting.

At the stakeholders meeting which was boycotted by the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha but attended by top leaders of the party from the zone such as Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, Former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu and others, all party officers in the zonal executives of the party were endorsed to seek for a fresh term.

Their nominations is expected to be ratified at the party’s national convention scheduled to hold in Abuja on June 23rd.

The agreement at the meeting was however defied by an aide of the Imo State Governor, Emma Ibediro who went ahead proceeded to pick nomination form to aspire for the office of the National Publicity Secretary held by Senator Osita Izunaso.

Our reporters observed that some of the lawmakers were sighted in Owerri town at the weekend though most of themĀ  refused to speak on the outcome of their political voyage to Abuja.

It would be recalled that members of Imo State House of Assembly had visited the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC where they demanded for the cancellation of the ward and local government congresses in Imo State.

A source said most of the lawmakers who had been crest fallen on the outcome of the congress in the State are hopeful; that a flicker of hope still loom in their political future after the national convention of the APC scheduled to hold on June 23.
