It was all fireworks yesterday in Imo APC as Governor Rochas Okorocha this time directed his attack on the party’s National Chairman, John Odigie Oyegun.

The Imo Governor who has lost grip of the party in Imo State thus jeopardizing the chances of his son in law to be his successor, accused Oyegun of taking the APC backwards to the point the party in many states is riddled with crisis and factions.

According to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemedo, the Governor said Oyegun is not interested in the welfare of the party.

The statement reads “Again, the way Chief Oyegun has pursued the issue of elongation also showed how selfish and greedy, he is. He is not interested in the well-being or future of the Party, but only interested in staying put as the National Chairman of the Party. And that is why he is after anybody who opposed the tenure elongation.

“The worst thing that would have happened to APC is to allow Chief Oyegun to continue as the National Chairman of the Party. It would have been worst for the Party. Chief Akande never tried to destroy the Party because he was leaving as the Pioneer Chairman. But Oyegun wants to destroy the Party because he is leaving. He is not patriotic”

He recalled that in the case of Imo, Oyegun disobeyed two court orders and went ahead to inaugurate “strange elements” as the State officials of the party.

“The only thing Chief Oyegun has achieved in his anger against Governor Okorocha is encouraging elements with no electoral value like Osita Okechukwu and those from Imo to be insulting the Governor. And these are people who cannot win their booths in an election.

“The same elements came together during the Anambra State governorship election. The governor stayed away and at the end of the day, they could not justify their noise making. They have also started again. And these are people who have been running election since 2007 and have not won any” he stated.

Oguoma Exco Fault APC National Working Committee

The Acting Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Imo State, Chris Oguoma has lashed out at the National Working Committee for swearing in Chief Hilary Eke as the State Chairman of the party.

Oguoma was appointed by Governor Rochas Okorocha as the new Chairman of the APC in Imo State after the outcome of congresses which favoured the “Allied Forces” who have taken over the party structure.

Speaking to newsmen in Owerri, Oguoma faulted the National Working Committee for swearing in Chief Ekeh as the State Party Chairman. He frowned at the action of the NWC, describing it as the highest level of illegality against the mandate and manifesto of the party in Nigeria.

He recalled that Chief Hillary Ekeh was suspended by the leadership of the party because of  an offence he described as anti-party.

He noted that the Owerri Federal High Court stopped the congress in Imo State, thus the status quo remains.

Oguoma said the inauguration of Ekeh in Abuja is a clear violation of law and order by the NWC of the party.

“Ekeh should be held responsible for whatsoever that had happened in Abuja on June 4th”.

“Despite Ekeh’s swearing-in, that he (Oguoma) will never vacate the office as the acting party chairman”.

” I will vacate party office if the court vacates our case” Oguoma insisted.
