*PRESS STATEMENT*
It was jubilation when a mammoth crowd on Thursday, June 14, 2018, received the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP front-line governorship hopeful, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha to a grand reception during his visit to Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.
The visit is in continuation of his consultation tour of the 305 wards of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State.
The parley with Ahiazu Mbaise PDP stakeholders and members was the 12th of the 27 local governments Areas in the state Ihedioha has visited.
He was received on arrival by his expanded Team Ihedioha Campaign entourage and leaders of the PDP in Ahiazu Mbaise led by the PDP LGA Chairman, Nze Morris Iwu and Hon. Ken Agbim, member representing Ahiazu State Constituency and Minority Leader of the Imo State House of Assembly.
Earlier, Rt. Hon. Ihedioha and his encourage were received with salutary gunshots and a mammoth crowd who trooped out to welcome the former Deputy Speaker. This led to traffic gridlock.
The Team Ihedioha that constituted a convoy of over 100 vehicles included the crème de la crème of the PDP in Imo State. They include: Rt. Hon. Chuma Nnaji, Rt. Hon. Stanford Onyirima, Hon. Dr. Vincent Udokwu, Hon. Lady Ngozi Oguike, Dr. Peter Ukaigwe, Hon. Ben Mere, Hon. Ben Ekwueme, Hon. Lady Ann Njoku and many others.
Several speakers enumerated the fine qualities of Ihedioha and spoke extensively on he worked hard to ensure the preservation of the soul of PDP at all levels. They thereafter expressed their unflinching support to him and his bid to become the governor of Imo State in 2019.
In his his remarks, Ihedioha thanked the leaders and members of the PDP in Ahiazu Mbaise, stating that he feels much at home because he is a son of the soil and a worthy ambassador of the Mbaise Nation.
He noted that he came to congratulate them for their successful emergence during the heated battle for the soul of PDP.
He officially announced his governorship ambition.
“My mission in Ahiazu Mbaise is to consult with you and formally inform you that I am contesting for the office of the governor of Imo State” he said
The high-point of the event were cultural display, music, songs and dance performed by different groups from the 12 wards in Ahiazu Mbaise LGA in honour of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha and his entourage.
