Its time to allow home based players into the Nigeria national team if the nation intend to soar high in future international competitions.

This was disclosed by Coach Christian Chukwu, a former captain and coach of the Super Eagles.

He told NAN that home based players could gel as a team because of their long period of staying together in the Nigerian local league.

He said, “Many of these boys who play outside the country don’t understand each other because they have not played together for a long period.

“But the boys at home almost play together with each other in the Nigerian league and in typical Naija style,” he said.

The former Green Eagles Captain called on the country’s football managers to tap from the local content in order to advance.
Chukwu also described the Nigerian league as one of the best in Africa, adding that it was time to build national team with 90 per cent of home-based players.

”We should stop going for a player who plays in Iran simply because he is foreign-based.”
