The poor state of Relief Market, Owerri is generating concern among  traders and customers.

Roads and other infrastructure in the market have become a major source of concern prompting complains from traders who sell their wares at the market.

The market became a beehive of activities when the Imo State Government demolished the ancestral Eke Ukwu Owerri market in September last year.

Aside new stalls constructed by the State Government to boost activities, the rains which has been consistent lately has further damaged the roads within and outside the market.

“ The road leading to the market is almost impassable. When it rains, it is something else. Access to the market becomes a herculean task” said Chuka Onwudiwa a trader at the market.

Rumours were rife early this year that the market would also be relocated. But the State Government disproved such rumours when nothing happened.

Aside the bad roads, sections where food items and perishables are sold are in a sorry state since the rains intensified.
