More than 100 Nigerians who got stranded in Russia have returned to the country.
The Nigerians left the country for Russia for the World Cup which ended last Sunday but got stranded.
They later sought and got refuge at the Nigerian Embassy in that country.
Photos had gone online showing the stranded Nigerians sleeping on bare-floor at the premises of the Embassy.
President Muhammadu Buhari later directed that they be repatriated back home.
Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geofrrey Onyema confirmed the return of the stranded Nigerians.
In a tweet, he wrote “155 Nigerians who were stranded in Russia after the 2018 World Cup tournament safely touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja last night in a chartered flight as directed by H.E. President Buhari”
