It was commotion today in some parts of Owerri as cab and bus operators embarked on a protest over allegations of extortion.
Some of the operators lamented that daily they are extorted in the guise of paying for emblems by members of State Government Task Force.
One of the operators said in the last six months, the extortion has been on the rise and despite several complains, the authorities turned deaf ears to their pleas.
” There are many Task Forces in Owerri. Sometimes we get confused on which one is approved by the Government. They keep collecting money from us all in the name of paying for emblem” one of the cab operators lamented
