The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Imo State has assured thousands of its aspirants on its platform that party primaries will be devoid of any manipulative tendencies.
The assurance came after a governorship aspirant in the party and senator representing Owerri zone, Senator Samuel Anyanwu had advised party delegates not to be intimidated by anyone during the primaries. He had sued for the election of candidates that will match up with candidates to be fielded by other political parties during the election.
Concern has been expressed by some stakeholders that the primaries may favour some aspirants or rather the era of imposition of candidates in the past repeated.
But the State party Chairman, Charles Ezekwem has assured that the party would provide a level playing ground for all aspirants in the party during the primaries.
Speaking at Ihitte Uboma Local Government Area during the party’s consultation tour, he said the PDP can only take over power by conducting itself in a transparent manner that will sustain what he described an existing partnership between the PDP and the people of Imo State.
