COALITION  FOR  GOOD GOVERNANCE IN IMO

Kangaroo And Laughable State Wide Survey On 2019 Imo State  Governorship Aspirants.

Our attention has been drawn to a laughable and kangaroo opinion survey conducted by some self styled consortium of public opinion analysts led by one Dr. Chuks Osuji on governorship aspirants in Imo State.

In the warped survey, former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives,Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha was rated above over 30 other governorship aspirants in the race to Government House, Owerri in 2019.

We never expected anything less from Dr. Osuji considering the fact he is a well known ally of the former Deputy Speaker. He could not have rated any other aspirant higher than that of his supposed paymaster and ally.

Based on the foregoing, his Opinion Survey lack credibility, does not reflect the opinion and mindset of eligible Imo voters who have at all times demonstrated strong will and a  burning  passion not to allow “old brigade” politicians, a category of politicians which Ihedioha belongs to, to mount the saddle of governance of the State in 2019.

At a time the nation is embracing active youth involvement in governance, only a doctored survey would twist the facts, churn out fictitious results to suit the whims and caprices of spent political forces that have been  rejected by the sophisticated Imo electorate even before the 2019 governorship election in the State.

We have come to observe that the survey as porous as it is, never reflected the feelings and the perception of the people of Imo State who have resolved to elect only those who can take them away from the clutches of despondency and neglect.

Osuji’s survey lacked credibility as names of some non participants in the 2019 governorship contest were listed. This shows the desperation of those behind the survey to do a yeoman’s job.

The opinion survey  is therefore a futile exercise done for pecuniary gains because it does not in anyway reflect the mindset of the average Imolite who seem to be fed up with political big masquerades and their political parties who found their way to power since 1999 but whose reign have continuously made lives miserable for them.

We therefore wonder how one of the political parties which Ihedioha belongs to and where he is one of the “big political masquerades” could suddenly become their choice in 2019.

The cooked up survey lacks all the required parameters and yardstick of a credible opinion poll because its verdict completely varies with the views of the layman and majority of Imolites who crave for a new order in Imo State.

From Owerri to Okigwe, down to Obowo, the average Imolite yearn for new brand of leaders. Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha could not be the choice of the average Imolite in the 2019 elections considering the fact that he was overwhelmingly rejected by the same  Imo electorate in the 2015 elections losing woefully to Rochas Okorocha, after he had “robbed” Ifeanyi Araraume of the PDP governorship ticket.

How possible can Ihedioha with so much political baggage in his kitty suddenly become the choice of the people!.Perhaps only in the survey of Dr. Chuks Osuji!

We view the survey as a mere trash of paper with allocated figures, skewed and tailored to suit the whims and caprices of its sponsors and designed to mislead the Imo electorate and keen observers of the political situation in Imo State.

That the survey was held in 15 local governments of the  27 Local Governments in the State is a major flaw as it failed to take into consideration the frequent changing political dynamics in the State before the 2019 governorship  election.

The survey is hollow, lacks foundation and belong to the trash bin because it is misleading, false and a script drafted to give Ihedioha a false belief of a non existent edge over other governorship aspirants whom to the best of our knowledge were not even contacted for the exercise.

We are also amazed why the originators of the Opinion Poll would choose only 15 local governments ignoring the crucial fact that Imo State has a complex and dynamic political terrain with alternating political variables and indices that makes it very difficult to predict who the next governor of the State would be.

Dr. Osuji and his so called political analysts should recall that in 1999, all the fake surveys  favoured the likes of “big political masquerades” in the State at that time such as Humphrey Anumudu, Rochas Okorocha and others but it was an unknown Achike Udenwa that eventually emerged the Governor of Imo State.

Dr. Osuji and his team in sheer ignorance of the political colouration of Imo State failed to note that it was not “name recognition” of governorship aspirants that made little known and less fancied Ikedi Ohakim of the then Progressive Peoples Alliance, PPA to emerge the Governor of Imo State in 2007.

The “electability prospects” of governorship aspirants cannot be determined by Dr.Osuji’s cooked up questionnaires embedded in his mumbo- jumbo and self serving opinion survey. Rather the overwhelming choice of the people which they will freely express with their PVCs at the 2019 governorship elections will determine who will be our next governor.

Imo people will not be swayed anymore  by such cheap political concoction in the name of a survey that does not  reflect the political reality in the State or conform to the expectations of the people.
