Wethedral Road, Owerri like the human body can be described as a major artery. The road is the major entrance and exit point of Owerri.
When the road was demolished in line with the urban renewal programme of the Okorocha administration, Owerri residents cried to the heavens as it affected vehicular movement adversely and also stifled business.
Traffic gridlock rarely seen in Owerri city became a daily occurrence. Workers became wost hit as they got to work late due to traffic. Business outlets along the road suffered huge losses and damages.
More complains from majority of Owerri resident came when the rains set in thus obstructing renovation and expansion work on the road. But reprieve came today (Monday) when construction workers were sighted asphalting the road.
The visit of Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha on inspection of ongoing work gave relief to motorists and pedestrians who expressed happiness that the road will soon be ready for total use thus ameliorate the sufferings of motorists, pedestrians and good people of the State.
Mr. Callistus Uchendu, who runs a business outlet along the road told our reporter” We are happy the road is now undergoing renovation. Its not been easy for some of us who have our business outlets on this road. We can see the beauty and good intentions of the Governor”
