Imo Dep. Gov Post: “The Deal That Never Was”

Fresh insights emerged yesterday on how the new Deputy Governor, Callistus Ekenze was appointed by Governor Rochas Okorocha as a replacement for impeached Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere.

Contrary to public insinuations that the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Acho Ihim, and the Majority Leader, Lugard Osuji were to be elevated as Deputy Governor and Speaker respectively after Madumere’s impeachment, a top source revealed to this newspaper that there was no such deal.

Newspaper reports had been awash in the State that Ihim and Osuji were furious when their elevation did not come after Madumere was impeached by members of Imo State House of Assembly.

“There was never such a deal. The choice of Ekenze as a replacement for Madumere was one of the best decisions of the Governor.

“There was a move to get Chris Oguoma, the immediate past Imo State Chairman of the APC as Madumere’s replacement but superior judgement prevailed

Speaking to this newspaper on the matter, the Majority Leader, Imo State House of Assemby, Hon.Lugard Osuji confirmed that the media assumptions were false as he is not aware of such plans.
